What is a substitute for molybdenum disulfide grease?
There are other dry lubricants, Teflon or Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), being the primary alternative to Moly and Graphite. PTFE lubricants have many great applications where being inert and non-conductive are desired characteristics.
Can I use moly grease on ball joints?
While technically any grease can be used for ball joints, it's best to use high-quality lithium or molybdenum-disulfide (moly) greases. General-purpose greases often don't withstand the high-pressure and high-temperature conditions that ball joints experience.
Is moly grease good for universal joints?
Greases containing moly are recommended for roller bearings subjected to very heavy loads and shock loading, especially in slow or oscillating motion such as found in universal joints and CV joints.
